I am here. (2016)
'People watching' is defined as the act of observing people and their interactions usually without their knowledge. It involves picking up on idiosyncrasies and body language to try and guess another person's story.
Always actively 'people watching', this project stems from copious coffees, dinners and drinks, occasionally, in the company of friends, but more often than not, on my own sat with ears pricked, penetrating the conversations of those nearby.
I seem to have a natural propensity towards eavesdropping and draw immense pleasure from watching others. I find the mannerisms and body language others display as they engage socially, entirely encapsulating. If I am out of ears reach, I will often fabricate or forge a narrative, conversation or a relationship as I see it. My imagination darts from idea and interpretation in a best attempt to 'suss out' the situation unfolding before me.
Based in Barcelona on a visit, the project aims to dissolve the limitations of presence and location, and invites you to watch what I watch, as I watch, wherever you may be. The audience both present in Barcelona and those not, were able to follow the page and be alert for notifications as an indication of when I would be streaming live.
